Protesta CONTRA ICE EN LA CIUDAD DE OKLAHOMA

August 26th

RALLY AGAINST ICE IN OKLAHOMA CITY

Oklahoma City.-The Autonomous Brown Berets of Oklahoma, AIM-IT, and other co-hosts have organized a rally against the ICE office in Oklahoma City, located at 4400 SW 44th St., Suite A on August 26th from 11am -2pm. When interviewed Israel Sanchez about it, this is what he said:
What is this purpose of this protest? What was the Chicano Moratorium?
“We would like to bring attention to the struggles of the Chicano/Indigenous/Hispanic community and peacefully protest. We would like to get the word out to as many people as possible, in light of the Oklahoma Proud Boys planning to counter protest. One local proud boy described this action of ours as "bringing the WAR to OKC".
“Well for one the word Moratorium means no more. So the Chicano community was saying "Ya Basta!" and "No More!" to the powers that be. We want people to know that this community matters and we are saying no more.”
What were they saying NO MORE too?
“They were saying no more to the war in Vietnam. Chicanos only made 5% of the Armed Forces at the time and they were 30% of the entire military's casualties. The Chicano and Indigenous/Hispanic people of La Raza were tired of seeing their fathers, sons, and brothers being used as cannon fodder for the Imperialist War Machine.
Up to 30,000 people marched in East Los Angeles for the Moratorium. A peaceful march down Whittier Boulevard and a rally with music, speakers, and dancing at Laguna Park. Suddenly the LAPD started dropping tear gas canisters from helicopter and firing shotguns and tear gas grenades at the crowd.
The police started the violence and a riot ensued. 4 people were documented killed officially by the LAPD most notably Reuben Salazar who was assassinated by the LAPD at the Silver Dollar Bar hiding from the police violence, but protesters of that day say many more were killed and injured.
At least 150 people were arrested. Our Raza was against the Imperialist Wars of the United States and the deaths of our people by their hands.
How is this relevant to The protest on the 26th?
“The Colonial Government of the United States still kills and detains La Raza to this day abusing them. We are saying NO MORE, YA BASTA to them and their Gestapo tactics. This is all Indigenous land and it is time that we take the power that is rightfully ours and say NO to these abuses against our people. For La Raza. For Aztlan. Que Viva La Causa!
And on par for the course, we are being counter-protested by the Euro Supremacist hate group The Proud Boys. We all saw what happened in Portland.
Why is so important for you to have the Media presence?
“A media presence at and about this event would serve to protect the integrity of the event in as much as it provides coverage which can establish an objective reality that is less susceptible to later distortion by the state and reactionary elements.”
