4th ANNUAL OKCINE LATINO FILM FESTIVAL

FEATURES LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL TALENT IN THE HISTORIC CAPITOL HILL DISTRICT

OKLAHOMA CITY – Historic Capitol Hill Board and Sponsors are proud to announce the 4th annual Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival, scheduled for Friday, March 9th, 2018 from 5:30-10:00 pm at the OCCC Capitol Hill Center (325 SW 25th).
“This year nearly 60 short films were submitted from local and international filmmakers and we are thrilled to show off all this great talent at the new OCCC Capitol Hill Center” said OKCine organizers. The beautifully renovated building, located at SW 25th and Hudson, opened last August with state-of-the-art facilities and combines modern architecture with a touch of history to make a perfect backdrop for the rich stories represented in each film.
The film festival embraces the culture of the district and the influence of Latino cultural impact on cinema while showcasing local and international filmmakers with submittals from Mexico, Spain, and South America. In addition to International Latino Shorts, the event will feature high school student filmmakers’ shorts created as part of the free 5-week Youth Film Workshop: Class II. The workshop gives students a hands-on experience in the filmmaking world and the opportunity to meet professionals who are involved in this industry. Instructors Rogelio Almeida Jr. and Victor Caballero encourage the students to use their creativity and incorporate some aspect of Latino culture into the films, which will be premiered at the film festival.
OKCine organizers are proud to announce that Un Lugar, which won Best Cinematography at last year’s OKCine and was also runner-up for the Grand Jury Award, was recently nominated for the 32nd Goya Awards in Spain – the equivalent to the Oscars, the Golden Bears in Berlin and the Diosas de Plata in Mexico. The group is honored to be involved with this film festival that continues to showcase the vast talent of Latino filmmakers and helps inspire others who dream of reaching a broader audience and hopefully achieving recognition for their work.
The public is invited to experience an evening of visual storytelling while supporting aspiring filmmakers at the OKCine Latino Film Festival, Friday March 9 in the historic setting of Capitol Hill. Tickets on sale now for $20 and $25 at the door!
