Dos Estudiantes de OCCC reciben Becas de Mérito Nacional

Oklahoma City – Entre 13 estudiantes sobresalientes en todo el país, Dos estudiantes del Oklahoma City Community College, Salma Morales y James Pierce, han sido merecedores en recibir la beca nacional Andrew E. Stevenson Kappa Beta Delta por mérito.
"Salma y James son excepcionales alumnos y mejores seres humanos," dijo profesor OCCC y Kappa Beta Delta Co-Director de Germain Pichop. "Son muy dignos receptores de la beca de Mérito Nacional “Dr. Andrew Stevenson”. Ellos ejemplifican el espíritu del premio, que está consagrada en la misión de Kappa Beta Delta.

La beca de mérito nacional Dr. Andrew Stevenson se otorga cada año a un estudiante que es miembro de Kappa Beta Delta, lleva un GPA alto y ha demostrado liderazgo y participación de la comunidad en el último año.
Salma Morales tiene roles de liderazgo en varias organizaciones estudiantiles el en campus, incluyendo la organización Hispana que promueve la educación (HOPE), Native American Student Association and Kappa Beta Delta . También es un instructor de baile y tutor de tarea para la comunidad en la Biblioteca Southern Oaks Library y miembro del equipo All USA/Oklahoma Academic . Al termino de su grado de asociado, Salma planea transferir sus clases a la Universidad de Oklahoma para obtener una licenciatura en marketing y luego obtener su maestría en administración de empresas. Salma no sólo es un estudiante a tiempo completo pero trabaja a tiempo parcial para ayudar a los gastos y matrícula universitaria.
"No tengo ninguna duda que utilizaré esta beca para prosperar en mi educación", dice Morales. "Una beca puede ser la motivación de un adulto joven a seguir y conti
nuar su educación. Sin lugar a dudas, recibir esta beca ha eliminado los gravámenes financieros y me recordó que el dinero no es un punto de parada para mi futuro."

Two OCCC Students receive National Merit Scholarships

Oklahoma City - Among 13 outstanding students across the country, two Oklahoma City Community College students, Salma Morales and James Pierce, have been awarded the Andrew E. Stevenson Kappa Beta Delta National Scholarship by merit.
"Salma and James are exceptional students and better human beings," said Professor OCCC and Kappa Beta Delta Co-Director of Germain Pichop. "They are very worthy recipients of the National Merit Scholarship" Dr. Andrew Stevenson. "They exemplify the spirit of the award, which is enshrined in the mission of Kappa Beta Delta.
They have excelled academically, have demonstrated leadership potential and have been very active in the community. They have always been present whenever I needed help. I am very proud of their achievements and I am sure they will continue to shine in the future. "
The Dr. Andrew Stevenson National Merit Scholarship is awarded each year to a student who is a Kappa Beta Delta member, has a high GPA and has demonstrated leadership and community involvement in the past year.
Salma Morales has leadership roles in several student organizations on campus, including the Hispanic organization that promotes education (HOPE), the Native American Student Association and Kappa Beta Delta. He is also a dance instructor and task tutor for the community at the Southern Oaks Library and a member of the All USA / Oklahoma Academic team. At the end of her associate's degree, Salma plans to transfer her classes to the University of Oklahoma to obtain a bachelor's degree in marketing and then obtain her master's degree in business administration. Salma is not only a full-time student but works part-time to help with college expenses and tuition.
"I have no doubt that I will use this scholarship to prosper in my education," says Morales. "A scholarship can be the motivation of a young adult to continue and continue their education." Without a doubt, receiving this scholarship has eliminated financial burdens and reminded me that money is not a stopping point for my future.
