ENGLISH:
THE FUTURE SPEAKS TWO LANGUAGES
OKCPS opens a bilingual school and new career centers to expand opportunities for Oklahoma City students
By Staff Writer
Oklahoma City.- Oklahoma City is investing in something that cannot be measured only in buildings, classrooms or new equipment: it is investing in the future of its children and young people.
This fall, Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) is opening new doors for students with the launch of a dual-language academy at Adelaide Lee Elementary School and six new College and Career Centers designed to connect students with college, career training and the professional world.
For Oklahoma City’s Hispanic community, the new bilingual school represents an especially meaningful opportunity.
At Adelaide Lee, students will begin their educational journey learning in both English and Spanish. The Dual Language Academy begins with pre-K and kindergarten in 2026, with additional grades added in subsequent years. The program is designed to help students develop proficiency in both languages while strengthening academic skills, cultural understanding and critical-thinking abilities.
Michelle Dominguez, principal of Adelaide Lee Elementary, emphasized the long-term vision for the program. “It will expand eventually to fourth grade,” Dominguez said
For many Hispanic families, this represents more than a new educational program. It represents recognition that speaking Spanish is a strength that can open doors.
OKCPS says its dual-language model is intended to help students become proficient in English and Spanish while mastering core academic subjects. The district also highlights benefits including cultural awareness, problem-solving and preparation for future academic and career opportunities.
While younger students begin building their bilingual skills, high school students will have new opportunities to look directly toward their professional futures.
OKCPS will open College and Career Centers in August 2026, funded through the district’s 2022 Bond Initiative. The centers will offer high-demand career pathways designed to prepare students for careers in Oklahoma City and beyond.
The district’s Workforce Development Department says its mission is to connect every student’s high school experience to a meaningful future and ensure graduates leave with a plan to be employed, enrolled or enlisted. Students will have opportunities to connect with businesses, community leaders and postsecondary institutions through career panels, mock interviews, résumé preparation, project mentoring and internships.
The district describes the College and Career Centers as a bridge between education and opportunity. “The Workforce Development Department serves as the bridge between education and opportunity—ensuring every student can see what’s possible and take confident steps toward achieving it”
That message is particularly important for families who want their children to see possibilities beyond graduation. The goal is not simply to ask students what they want to become. It is to give them opportunities to explore those careers, develop skills and begin building a pathway toward them while they are still in school.
The significance of these projects goes beyond the walls of the schools.
At Adelaide Lee, a young student may begin by learning to read in two languages. Years later, that same student could enter a career center, discover a passion for health care, aviation, education or another high-demand field, and begin preparing for a profession.
That is the larger vision behind the investment: connecting education to opportunity from the earliest years through high school graduation.
For parents, one of the most important questions is simple: Will my child be prepared for the future? There is no single answer for every student.
Some will attend college. Others will enter the workforce. Some will pursue technical careers or skilled trades. Others will discover professions they have never considered. What matters is that they have choices. And OKCPS is attempting to create more of those choices through bilingual education and career-focused learning.
For Oklahoma City’s Hispanic families, the message is especially powerful: Your language can be an asset. Your culture can be an asset. Your education can be the bridge to opportunity.
The true impact of these programs will not be measured only by the number of students who walk through their doors this year. It will be measured years from now — when those students become bilingual professionals, skilled workers, educators, health-care providers, entrepreneurs and community leaders.

21 August 2026 19:19There was a time when I thought I had lost the person I loved most. The silence, the distance, and the misunderstandings between us left me heartbroken, and I didn't know if our relationship could be saved. I decided to seek the help of Priest Alaska, hoping to find clarity and a peaceful way forward. His spiritual guidance gave me hope when I was about to give up. I was patient, focused on healing, and let things flow naturally. Gradually, communication returned. The tension between us began to fade, and we started to understand each other again. What once seemed broken now seemed possible once more. Today, we talk, rebuild our connection, and give our love another chance. If you are experiencing heartbreak, separation, or difficulties in your relationship, you can contact Priest Alaska through his email: alaskaspellcaster44@gmail.com Sometimes, a closed chapter can become the beginning of a beautiful new story.

It reminds me how important foundational skills are, whether it's learning a new language or mastering tricky levels in something like geometry dash lite. Giving students more pathways and opportunities is truly a game-changer.

It’s like uno online —you need strategy, adaptability, and perfect timing to flip the game. Every Hispanic family’s unique cultural deck can build powerful bridges to opportunity.
