Gobernador Veto Pactos Tribales de Tabaco
OKLAHOMA CITY – Esta semana , el Senado del Estado de Oklahoma estaba a solo un voto de la mayoría de dos tercios necesaria para anular el veto del Gobernador a SB26X, que habría extendido los pactos tribales de tabaco por un año más.
El recuento de votos fue de 31-8 votos a favor de extender los pactos tribales, sin embargo, se necesitaron 32 votos afirmativos para anular SB26X. La anulación fracasó por un solo voto y el veto del Gobernador se mantuvo.
"Es profundamente preocupante escuchar que el veto del gobernador a SB26X se mantuvo, especialmente porque mayorías significativas en ambas cámaras de la legislatura continúan votando para extender los pactos tribales y evitar dejar a los contribuyentes de Oklahoma en el gancho de costosas demandas que se prolongan durante años", dijo la líder demócrata de la Cámara de Representantes, Cyndi Munson, demócrata de Oklahoma City.
A principios de este mes, 74 de los 101 miembros de la Cámara votaron para extender los pactos tribales en HB1005X, anulando con éxito el veto del gobernador que habría obligado a las tribus a renegociar los pactos con respecto a los registros de vehículos.
HB1005X todavía necesita una audiencia en el Senado.
"Si los vetos del gobernador de SB26X y HB1005X no son anulados, habrá una disminución en los ingresos estatales y los contribuyentes tendrán que pagar costosos honorarios legales. Extender los pactos proporcionará beneficios importantes para los habitantes de Oklahoma y permitirá que las naciones estatales y tribales continúen trabajando juntas con éxito como lo hemos hecho antes de la administración de este gobernador ", dijo el líder Munson.
El Senado también votó para extender la sesión especial hasta el 31 de julio, posiblemente indicando otro voto para anular SB26X y un voto para anular HB1005X.
Para anular con éxito el veto del Gobernador, se requiere un voto de dos tercios de cada cámara.
