Hospital del Corazón- INTEGRIS segundo en el país y Primero en Oklahoma en implante de Eluvia

Oklahoma City.-  Dr. George Chrysant, un cardiólogo intervencionista con INTEGRIS Heart Hospital en la ciudad de Oklahoma, es el segundo en el país y el primero en el estado en utilizar el sistema de Stent Vascular Eluvia. Realizó el primer implante del estado en INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center el 5 de octubre. La terapia recibió la aprobación de la FDA de Estados Unidos el 18 de septiembre.

El Eluvia Drug-Eluting Vascular Stent System ha sido desarrollado específicamente para el tratamiento de la enfermedad arterial periférica (PAD). Aproximadamente 8.5 millones de personas en los Estados Unidos se ven afectados por PAD, que se produce cuando material ateroesclerótica calcificado o graso, llamado placa, construye en las paredes de las arterias de las piernas, restringiendo el flujo sanguíneo y causando dolor, hinchazón y menor calidad de vida. Si el flujo sanguíneo no es restaurado y mantenido, casos severos de PAD pueden conducir a dolor, úlceras e incluso la amputación de la extremidad afectada.

INTEGRIS Heart Hospital Second in Country and First in Oklahoma to Implant Eluvia

Oklahoma City.-George Chrysant, M.D., an interventional cardiologist with INTEGRIS Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, is the second in the country and first in the state to utilize the Eluvia™ Drug-Eluting Vascular Stent System. He completed the state’s inaugural implant at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center on Oct. 5. The therapy received U.S. FDA approval on Sept. 18.

The Eluvia™ Drug-Eluting Vascular Stent System is specifically developed for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD). Approximately 8.5 million people in the United States are affected by PAD, which occurs when fatty or calcified atherosclerotic material, called plaque, builds up on the walls of the arteries of the legs, restricting blood flow and causing pain, swelling and a diminished quality of life. If blood flow is not restored and maintained, severe cases of PAD can lead to pain, ulcers and even amputation of the affected limb.
