La COTPA APRUEVA tarifas gratuitas permanentes en el tranvía de OKC
CIUDAD DE OKLAHOMA – La Autoridad Central de Transporte y Aparcamiento de Oklahoma (COTPA) adoptó hoy en su reunión de la junta una resolución para eliminar la tarifa del tranvía de OKC y establecer un servicio de tarifa cero a partir del 7 de agosto.
EMBARK estableció en enero un programa piloto de tarifas gratuitas para probar si eliminar las tarifas del tranvía de OKC aumentaría el uso.
Un análisis de pasajeros comparando de enero a junio de 2025 con los mismos meses de 2026 mostró que la afluencia en el tranvía de OKC aumentó un 71% de media mes a mes en comparación con el mismo periodo del año anterior.
"Nos complace ver estos resultados positivos del análisis de pasajeros y crear un sistema de tranvía OKC Zero Fare para nuestros residentes y visitantes", dijo Jesse Rush, director de EMBARK. "A medida que nuestra ciudad continúa invirtiendo en proyectos y acogiendo grandes eventos que llegarán al centro de Oklahoma City, el tranvía puede mejorar la circulación del centro, ayudar a aliviar la congestión del tráfico y aumentar la actividad económica de los negocios del centro."

COTPA board adopts resolution for permanent free fares on OKC Streetcar
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) adopted a resolution at its board meeting today to remove the fare for the OKC Streetcar and establish a zero-fare service effective Aug. 7.
EMBARK established a free fare pilot program in January to test whether removing fares from the OKC Streetcar would increase usage.
A ridership analysis comparing January through June 2025 with the same months in 2026 showed that ridership on the OKC Streetcar increased by an average of 71% month over month compared with the same period last year.
“We’re pleased to see these positive results from the ridership analysis and to create a Zero Fare OKC Streetcar system for our residents and visitors,” said Jesse Rush, Director of EMBARK. “As our city continues to invest in projects and host major events coming to downtown Oklahoma City, the streetcar can improve downtown circulation, help ease traffic congestion and boost economic activity for downtown businesses.”
