Demócratas del Senado instan a rechazar los estándares de estudios sociales de Superintendente Walters antes de la fecha límite
OKLAHOMA CITY – Con la fecha límite del 1 de mayo para rechazar los estándares de estudios sociales del superintendente Ryan Walters acercándose rápidamente, los miembros del Caucus Demócrata del Senado emitieron las siguientes declaraciones esta semana.
"Los estándares de estudios sociales que el superintendente Walters ha impulsado a través de la política de lugar sobre nuestros niños. La Legislatura debe actuar en los próximos días para asegurar que estamos poniendo a nuestros estudiantes, maestros, escuelas y familias en primer lugar".– dijo -líder demócrata del Senado, Julia Kirt, demócrata de Oklahoma City.
"El liderazgo republicano ha dicho que no escuchará nuestra resolución conjunta que rechaza estos estándares, incluso cuando los nombramientos más recientes del gobernador Stitt para la Junta Estatal de Educación han pedido que les devolvamos los estándares para otra votación. Reiteramos nuestro llamado urgente a la acción antes de que sea demasiado tarde para impedir que estas normas entren en vigor, socavando las oportunidades educativas de nuestros niños". – Senadora Carri Hicks, demócrata de Oklahoma City.
"El superintendente Walters abandonó el proceso que Oklahoma ha utilizado durante décadas para reclutar educadores y líderes comunitarios para actualizar con precisión lo que todos los niños necesitan aprender sobre historia y estudios sociales.
