NUEVE FINALISTAS NOMBRADOS PARA EL PROFESOR DEL AÑO


OKLAHOMA CITY -La Fundación para Las Escuelas Públicas de Oklahoma City y las Escuelas Públicas de Oklahoma City (OKCPS) han nombrado a los nueve finalistas para el Profesor del Año de OKCPS.

Los finalistas de 2020 son:

• Michelle Cheney, Primaria Kaiser, Profesora de3er Grado

• Leslie Davis, Primaria Cleveland, Profesora de 1o Grado

• Amanda Girdler, Escuela Secundaria Taft, Profesora de Matemáticas y Ciencias de5o Grado

• Mary (Katy) Hamilton, Johnson Pre-K Center, SPED Pre-K Teacher

• Danielle Hubble, Escuela Secundaria Wheeler, Profesora de Artes del Idioma Inglés SPED

• Laura Hughes, Primaria Heronville, Profesora Pre-K

• Lee Peacock Jones, Primaria Van Buren, Especialista en Medios de Biblioteca

• Angela Peake, Escuela Primaria Coolidge, Profesora SPED/ID

• Jennifer Sinclair, Nichols Hills Enterprise Elementary, Maestra de Jardín de Infantes

Los finalistas serán reconocidos en la celebración de Stars of Education, que tendrá lugar el 7 de mayo de 2020 en el Historic Oklahoma Farmers Public Market, ubicado en 311 S Klein en Oklahoma City.

Durante la ceremonia, los finalistas recibirán un total de más de $7,000 en premios combinados en efectivo de The Foundation for OKCPS, y se anunciará al Maestro del Año del distrito.

El Profesor del Año de OKCPS 2020 será reconocido en el evento Stars of Education el 7 de mayo y luego servirá como candidato del distrito para el Maestro del Año del Estado de Oklahoma.z

"Estos nueve educadores fueron seleccionados debido a sus extraordinarios esfuerzos para impactar y mejorar la vida de nuestros estudiantes. El arduo trabajo que muestran no ha pasado desapercibido y me siento muy honrado de celebrar y reconocer a estas increíbles personas por su compromiso con la profesión docente y los estudiantes de OKCPS", dijo el Dr. Sean McDaniel, Superintendente de Escuelas de OKCPS.

La Fundación para OKCPS organiza la ceremonia de Stars of Education cada primavera para celebrar a los maestros y los logros sobresalientes en todo el distrito. Además de OKCPS Maestro del Año, también se entregarán premios en efectivo a los homenajeados por personal de apoyo excepcional y Voluntarios, así como para tres categorías de Socio Comunitario del Año. Dos destacados directores de OKCPS recibirán los Premios Director Sobresaliente de The Sam y Charolet Shirley y recibirán premios en efectivo en el evento, uno de una escuela primaria y otro de una escuela secundaria.

"Nuestros maestros desempeñan un papel tan importante en la vida de nuestros estudiantes. Reconocerlos por el trabajo que hacen es un honor para nosotros", dijo mary Mélon, Presidenta y CEO de la Fundación. "El evento Stars of Education es una de mis noches favoritas del año, ya que también celebramos a los directores con los Premios Directores Sobresalientes Sam y Charolet Shirley, así como al personal de apoyo, voluntarios y socios comunitarios que enriquecen nuestras escuelas todos los días".

La Profesora del Año de OKCPS ha sido nombrada Profesora del Año de Oklahoma tres veces desde 2000 – Talita DeNegri en 2001, Robyn Hilger en 2006 y Heather Sparks en 2009.  La profesora del Año de OKCPS del año pasado fue Christina Kirk, una profesora de Artes del Idioma Inglés de  8avo  grado.

 

 

NINE FINALISTS NAMED FOR OKCPS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

OKLAHOMA CITY -The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools and Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS) have named the nine finalists for OKCPS Teacher of the Year.

The 2020 finalists are:

• Amanda Girdler, Taft Middle School, 5th Grade Math and Science Teacher

• Mary (Katy) Hamilton, Johnson Pre-K Center, SPED Pre-K Teacher

• Danielle Hubble, Wheeler Middle School, SPED English Language Arts Teacher

• Laura Hughes, Heronville Elementary, Pre-K Teacher

• Lee Peacock Jones, Van Buren Elementary, Library Media Specialist

• Angela Peake, Coolidge Elementary, SPED/ID Teacher

• Jennifer Sinclair, Nichols Hills Enterprise Elementary, Kindergarten Teacher

The finalists will be recognized at the Stars of Education celebration, which will take place on May 7, 2020 at the Historic Oklahoma Farmers Public Market, located at 311 S Klein in Oklahoma City.

During the ceremony, finalists will receive a combined total of more than $7,000 in cash awards from The Foundation for OKCPS, and the district Teacher of the Year will be announced.

The 2020 OKCPS Teacher of the Year will be recognized at the Stars of Education event on May 7th will then serve as the district's candidate for Oklahoma State Teacher of the Year.

"These nine educators were selected because of their extraordinary efforts to impact and improve the lives of our students. The hard work they display hasn't gone unnoticed and I am so honored to celebrate and recognize these amazing individuals for their commitment to the teaching profession and the students of OKCPS,” said Dr. Sean McDaniel, OKCPS Superintendent of Schools. 

The Foundation for OKCPS hosts the Stars of Education ceremony each spring to celebrate teachers and outstanding achievement throughout the district. In addition to OKCPS Teacher of the Year, cash awards will also be presented to honorees for exceptional support staff and Volunteers, as well as for three categories of Community Partner of the Year. Two outstanding OKCPS principals will receive The Sam and Charolet Shirley Outstanding Principal Awards and will receive cash awards at the event, one from an elementary school and one from a secondary school.

“Our teachers play such a significant role in the lives of our students. Recognizing them for the work they do is an honor for us,” said Foundation President/CEO Mary Mélon. “The Stars of Education event is one of my favorite nights of the year as we also celebrate principals with the Sam and Charolet Shirley Outstanding Principal Awards, as well as support staff, volunteers and community partners enriching our schools every day.”

The OKCPS Teacher of the Year has been named Oklahoma Teacher of the Year three times since 2000 – Talita DeNegri in 2001, Robyn Hilger in 2006 and Heather Sparks in 2009.  Last year’s OKCPS Teacher of the Year was Christina Kirk, an 8th grade English Language Arts and AVID teacher.
