OCCC BOARD OF REGENTS & TRUSTEES ACEPTA LA JUBILACIÓN TEMPRANA DEL PRESIDENTE

Steward ahora a partir del 1 de enero de 2021

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA, La Junta de Regentes y Síndicos del Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC, por sus siglas en inglés) se reunieron en una sesión especial el 14 de diciembre para revisar una solicitud del Presidente de OCCC, el Dr. Jerry Steward, para revisar y votar un plan de jubilación acelerado. El presidente Steward anunció a principios de este año su retiro a partir del 2 de julio de 2021, pero ha revisado sus planes con una fecha de jubilación del 1 de enero de 2021. La Junta de Regentes aprobó la solicitud del presidente Steward. 

"Ha sido el honor de mi vida servir como Presidente del Oklahoma City Community College", dijo el presidente Steward en su anuncio de jubilación el 17 de agosto de 2020. "OCCC está floreciendo, liderando. y estableciendo la línea de cómo deben funcionar las organizaciones".

El Sr. Devery Youngblood, Presidente de la Junta de Regentes de la OCCC, dice que aún están por venir planes para buscar, reclutar y contratar a un nuevo Presidente. A partir del 2 de enero de 2021, el Dr. Jeremy Thomas se convertirá en Presidente Interino de la universidad por un contrato de un año. y conservará sus responsabilidades como Provost y Vicepresidente de Asuntos Estudiantiles. La Sra. Danita Rose, Jefa de Gabinete, constituye la otra mitad del equipo de liderazgo ejecutivo y continuará en su papel.

"Tenemos plena confianza en el Dr. Thomas, la Sra. Rose y su gabinete, lo que nos da el lujo de ser muy deliberados e inclusivos en nuestra transición a una nueva administración. Se lo debemos a nuestra facultad y personal, y por supuesto a nuestros estudiantes, hacer esto bien".

OCCC BOARD OF REGENTS & TRUSTEES ACCEPTS PRESIDENT’S EARLY RETIREMENT

President Steward’s retirement now effective January 1, 2021

[OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA, December 14 – ] The Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC) Board of Regents & Trustees met in a special session on December 14 to review a request from OCCC President Dr. Jerry Steward to review and vote on an expedited retirement plan. President Steward earlier this year announced his retirement effective July 2, 2021, but has revised his plans with a retirement date of January 1, 2021. The Board of Regents approved President Steward’s request. 

“It has been the honor of my life to serve as President of Oklahoma City Community College,” said President Steward in his retirement announcement on August 17, 2020. “OCCC [is] flourishing… leading… and setting the bar for how organizations should operate.”

Mr. Devery Youngblood, Chair of the OCCC Board of Regents, says plans for searching, recruiting and hiring a new President are still to come. Effective January 2, 2021, Dr. Jeremy Thomas will become Interim President of the college for a one-year contract. and will retain his responsibilities as Provost and Vice President of Student Affairs. Ms. Danita Rose, Chief of Staff, makes up the other half of the executive leadership team and will continue in her role.

“We have full confidence in Dr. Thomas, Ms. Rose and their cabinet, which gives us the luxury to be very deliberate and inclusive in our transition to a new administration. We owe it to our faculty and staff, and of course to our students, to get this right.”
