La propuesta de imponer una tarifa de US$100,000 para las visas H-1B, que entrará en vigencia en 2026, ha generado gran incertidumbre tanto en profesionales extranjeros como en empleadores en Estados Unidos. Esta medida no solo encarecería los procesos migratorios, sino que también modificaría la forma en que empresas y trabajadores planifican su futuro laboral.
Impacto en el mercado laboral
Barreras económicas para profesionales extranjeros: El sueño de trabajar en EEUU podría quedar fuera del alcance de miles de profesionales. A los costos de reubicación, trámites legales y adaptación, se sumaría este pago extraordinario, limitando las posibilidades de quienes no cuenten con un respaldo económico sólido.
Desincentivo para pequeñas y medianas empresas: Las grandes corporaciones estarían en mejor posición para absorber el costo, pero las pymes se verían obligadas a desistir de patrocinar talento extranjero. Esto concentraría las oportunidades en unos pocos actores y restaría diversidad y equidad al mercado laboral.
Competencia por menos plazas: Aunque el costo elevado podría disminuir el número de solicitantes, la presión sobre los cupos disponibles aumentaría, volviendo el proceso aún más competitivo y selectivo.
