Proyecto de ley AJUSTARIA "peajes no pagados"
OKLAHOMA CITY – Bajo la ley actual, si una persona debe dinero de peaje, tiene prohibido renovar el registro de su vehículo hasta que pague su peaje. La representante Annie Menz, demócrata de Norman, presentó el proyecto de ley HB2968, que eliminaría la capacidad de Service Oklahoma de negar el registro de vehículos de renovación para peajes no pagados. Menz dice que su oficina ha recibido comentarios de los constituyentes sobre este tema, y aunque aprecia a Service Oklahoma, es hora de hacer este ajuste.
"Imagínese ausentarse del trabajo para hacer fila en la agencia de etiquetas para renovar el registro de su vehículo, solo para que le digan que no puede porque le debe dinero a la OTA por los peajes. Mucha gente no tiene que imaginar eso; lo han experimentado", afirmó Menz.
"Debido a este estatuto, los agentes de etiquetas tienen que enviar a los clientes que pagan fuera de sus puertas porque no pueden cobrar peajes, y no se les permite brindar servicios a alguien que debe tal vez dos dólares a la OTA. En ese momento, una persona ha faltado al trabajo por nada y ahora está conduciendo sin la documentación adecuada".
Menz dice que si este tipo de bloqueos se mantienen, solo incentiva a las personas a seguir conduciendo sin su registro actualizado.
"Los conductores legales significan carreteras más seguras, y llegar al trabajo de manera segura significa poder pagar las facturas. Esta legislación es un ajuste de sentido común para las familias trabajadoras. Espero trabajar con mis colegas en este esfuerzo", dijo Menz.
La HB2968 estará disponible para ser escuchada después de que comience la sesión legislativa el lunes 5 de febrero.
