ENERGY FC SET TO BEGIN 6TH SEASON
The 2019 USL Championship season began last Saturday, as Energy FC traveled to El Paso to take on expansion side El Paso Locomotive FC.
The home opener, presented by Mercy, Official Medical Provider for Energy FC, is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. CT at historic Taft Stadium. The Greens will take on second-year club Las Vegas Lights FC. That fixture last season proved to be one of the best of the season, as OKC defeated Las Vegas 6-4 in a match that was nationally televised on ESPNews.
In addition to the action on the pitch, there are a variety of things happening on matchday at Taft Stadium. Mercy is providing commemorative t-shirts for the first 2,000 fans in attendance. Kids Eat Free is also back for every home match in 2019. All children ages 12 and under receive a free hot dog, snack and bottled water. The club is also happy to announce the return of Energy Assist’s 50/50 raffle, where the winner splits the pot with a local 501(c)(3) organization.
This Energy FC squad is thought by many to be the most talented in the history of the club with uslchampionship.com writer John Arlia picking the team to make the playoffs and predicting that forward Deshorn Brown will be in the race for the golden boot.
