Newcastle Futbol Club Helps With Quarantine Recovery

“The Newcastle Futbol Club has announced that the registration fees for the 2020 fall recreational season will be $20.00 per player. As more and more families struggle to recover from the Covid-19 quarantine, the NFC board, with the support of NASA, is committed to making recreational soccer as affordable as possible for all families in Newcastle and surrounding areas.

“We have made every effort to make soccer free for our families but because of insurance requirements, a portion of the registration fee covers that as well as referee fees,” said NFC Board President Justin Burke.

“The bottom line is that we need to help our kids recover from the stress of dealing with Covid-19 and schools being canceled and this is one way we could help,” said Burke.

Once teams are formed, they will be able to purchase game jerseys at Oklahoma Apparel. If an entire team registers intact, they will be given the options to keep their current uniforms for the fall 2020 season.

As with any youth program, success is only possible if parents step up and volunteer to coach, referee, help out with field maintenance, or any other issue vital to the success of the season. If you are interested in volunteering contact the Newcastle Futbol club through Facebook or email at soccer@newcastleyouthsports.com.

After coming off a huge success with hosting a four on four tournament which saw 43 teams from across the state participate, plans are currently underway to host another one open to all teams and ages this fall.

The NFC is excited to announce that they have partnered with Oklahoma Energy FC West to offer competitive club soccer for those players who want and have the ability to play the game at a higher level. Players will be able to train with professional coaches who have either played the game at the collegiate or professional level or they will be able to train with current and past college coaches.

Current Newcastle Head Boys Soccer coach has 35 years coaching experience at the recreational, club, high school and college level and feels that a strong competitive program is vital to competing for a state title as well as helping young players continue to play soccer at the college level and beyond.

“For the kids that want to play high school, playing competitive soccer at a younger age is a great way to prepare them to compete as freshman at the high school level. The key is that they will be constantly challenged and they will be exposed to a level of professional coaching that most recreational clubs cannot offer,” said Pecore.

The NFC will also be unveiling a Soccer Academy program in the fall and it will be directed by MACU Head Men’s Coach Mitch Sowerby.

“If ever there was a time for a community to rise up and support their youth sports programs, its now,” said Todd Dupler, V.P. of NFC

“What we invest today in our children will be paid back to us a thousand times over,” said Dupler.
