OKLAHOMA CITY – El Procurador General Gentner Drummond está instando a los líderes del Congreso a aprobar la "Ley No DeepSeek en los Dispositivos del Gobierno". Attorney General urges Congress to ban Chinese AI platform

OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General Gentner Drummond is urging Congressional leaders to pass the “No DeepSeek on Government Devices Act.” The legislation will ban the use and download of the Chinese Communist Party’s artificial intelligence software on government devices.

Drummond is part of a 21-state coalition that recently sent a letter to Congress, outlining the threat DeepSeek poses to the United States. The platform can send user data directly to the Chinese Communist Party. Users may also unknowingly be creating accounts in China, making their identities and online behavior visible to the Chinese government.

"The growing threat of Chinese technology infiltrating our government systems demands immediate action. Oklahoma cannot stand idle while foreign adversaries gain backdoor access to our data,” Drummond said. “I strongly encourage Congress to pass the 'No DeepSeek on Government Devices Act' to ensure that America's critical infrastructure and sensitive information remain protected from those who seek to do us harm.”

China continues to be one of the biggest national security threats facing the U.S. In 2023, a Chinese spy balloon was caught flying over the country. In December, the U.S. Treasury Department was notified it had been hacked by China and gained access to employees’ workstations and stole data from a committee that reviews foreign investments for national security risks. In November, it was announced that China had been conducting cyberespionage aimed at Americans who work in government and politics.

DeepSeek has already been blocked on government devices in Canada, Australia, South Korea and Taiwan. Italy has blocked the program across the entire country. DeepSeek is also linked to China Mobile which has close ties to the Chinese military and has been sanctioned by the U.S. government.

“Congress should protect America’s national security by banning DeepSeek on government devices. If it has not already taken action to administratively ban DeepSeek, we trust that the Trump Administration would swiftly implement this ban to protect our national security from America’s ‘potent and dangerous’ adversary,” the attorneys general wrote.
