Latinos account for one of every four youth in the United States
Washington, D.C. The 2020 Census reveals a sizeable Latino youth population (under-18-year-olds) throughout the nation, with 18.8 million Latino youth in the country. The numbers show us that Latinos tend to be a younger population than our nation’s population overall. In many states, the Latino share of the youth population is significantly larger than the Latino share of the states’ total population.
“Given this relatively large share of Latinos among our population’s youth, it is critical that the full range of policies affecting our nation’s youth take into account the needs of the Latino community.
“Our nation cannot address such challenges as poverty, poor health care, or the lack of access to quality education without tailored approaches that enhance the opportunities and well-being of Latino families and children. An investment in Latino children today can help ensure a strong, prosperous nation tomorrow.”

• In Nevada, Latinos are 28.7 percent of the total population compared to 40.6 percent of the state’s youth.
