OKLAHOMA CITY, OK.- The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) llevará a sus pantallas el documental "I Am DACA," que cuenta con soñadores de Oklahoma, saldrá al aire el jueves, 11 de octubre en 7 PM CST. DREAM Action Oklahoma, junto con el productor local, Bill Hellams, reclutó a soñadores de todo el estado para contar sus propias historias a las camaras. Diecisiete Soñadores describen sus experiencias vividas como inmigrantes en Oklahoma y cómo DACA ha impactado en ellos y sus familias.

La película  tiene una duración de 27 minutos con acompañamiento musical original de Edgar Cruz.

La película humaniza a los inmigrantes, a través de las historias que son contadas directamente por los afectados. Estas narrativas presentan situaciones actuales que criminalizan a la comunidad indocumentada. Dream Action Oklahoma espera empoderar con estas historias a otros inmigrantes en la comunidad a vivir sin miedo, encontrar su voz y compartir sus historias. 

“La película servirá para educar al público general sobre quiénes realmente son soñadores y cómo contribuyen a esta situación. Ayudará a iniciar un diálogo productivo y apoyar acciones concretas para un cambio sistémico’ dijo Amanda Sandoval.

Guillermo Martínez, Coordinador de diseño DAOK y un soñador en la película, declaro:

"Esta película es algo más que historias. Es una situación pública y testimonio de las mísmas personas cuyas familias fueron separadas por deportaciones: las personas que DACA protege. Esta película es un recordatorio de la situación actual del sistema de inmigración y la necesidad de arreglarlo porque es lo correcto".

Film Featuring Oklahoma Dreamers to Air on Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) 

Oklahoma City. -The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) will air the documentary “I Am DACA,” which features Oklahoma Dreamers, on Thursday, October 11 at 7 PM CST. Dream Action Oklahoma, together with local producer, Bill Hellams, recruited Dreamers from around the state to tell their own stories on camera. Seventeen Dreamers describe their lived experiences as immigrants in Oklahoma and how DACA has impacted them and their families. 

The film is 27 minutes long with original musical accompaniment by Edgar Cruz. 

The film humanizes immigrants, as stories are told by those directly affected. This counters current narratives that criminalize the undocumented community. Dream Action Oklahoma hopes these stories empower others in the immigrant community to live unafraid, find their voices, and share their stories.

The film will serve to educate the public about who Dreamers really are and how they contribute to this state. It will help start productive dialogue and build actionable support for lasting systemic change. 

Guillermo Martinez, DAOK Design Coordinator and one Dreamer in the film, stated: 

“This film is more than just stories. It is a public account and testimony of the same people whose families are being separated by deportations  ? the very people whom DACA protects. This film is a reminder of the current state of the immigration system and the need to fix it because it is the right thing to do.”
